Finishing the Board:

OK, you have it glassed and it looks like a surfboard, now for the finishing touches.

First, sand your last layer of just resin mix down smooth. You can polish it too, for a really good look.

Next, get your hole saw and drill a hole in the tail deep enough for the leash plug. Glass this in place with a mixture of resin, MEKP and filler. Be sure to use some filler, this makes the bond much stronger.

Now put in your fin box. About four inches or so from the tail, place the fin box on the board and trace its outline. Take a shart exacto knife and cut out the glass from this section. Be careful, those knives can get away from you. Now take a sharp wood chisel and remove the foam and stringer from this area deep enough to get the fin box in all the way. Then glass this in place with a mixture of resin, MEKP and filler. Its a good idea to have the fin in the box at this time to make sure that its going to be straight and perendicular to the bottom, you can use some masking tape to hold it in place.
